چکیده

Background: Extended spectrum beta-lactamase-producing Enterobacteriaceae (ESBL-PE) are a serious challenge to patients’ treatment. The aim of this study is determine the prevalence ESBL-PE, investigate associated resistance, and analyze risk factors for acquisition ESBL-PE.Methodology: A cross-sectional was conducted on healthy volunteers inpatients. After obtaining informed consent, rectal swabs were collected from each participant isolation Hektoen enteric agar containing 4µg/L cefotaxime. isolates identified using biochemical tests ESBL production confirmed by double-disc synergy test amoxicillin clavulanic acid. Antibiotic susceptibility isolate done disc diffusion method interpreted recommendations European Committee Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (EUCAST) clinical breakpoints version 5.0.Results: During period, faecal ESBL-PE among participants 54.5% (103/189); 53.5% 55.7% inpatients (p=0.87). major Escherichia coli (71%) followed Klebsiella pneumoniae (16%). in hospitalized patients resistant norfloxacin (84.2%), cotrimoxazole (89.5%), gentamicin (7.0%). (86.2%), (82.8%), (1.7%).Gender, age, previous antibiotic use not significantly with carriage (p=0.51).Conclusion: high worrying. There an urgent need develop measures monitor limit spread these multidrug-resistant organisms healthcare facilities community Burkina Faso.

High prevalence of extended-spectrum ß-lactamase producing enterobacteriaceae among clinical isolates in Burkina Faso

BACKGROUND Nothing is known about the epidemiology and resistance mechanisms of extended-spectrum ß-lactamase-producing Enterobacteriaceae (ESBL-PE) in Burkina Faso. The objective of this study was to determine ESBL-PE prevalence and to characterize ESBL genes in Burkina Faso. METHODS During 2 months (June-July 2014), 1602 clinical samples were sent for bacteriologic investigations to the mic...

Community faecal carriage of extended-spectrum beta-lactamase-producing Enterobacteriaceae in french children

BACKGROUND The increasing incidence of community acquired infection due to Extended-Spectrum Beta-Lactamase (ESBL) -Producing Enterobacteriaceae represent a great concern because there are few therapeutic alternatives. The fecal flora of children in the community can represent a reservoir for ESBLs genes which are located on highly transmissible plasmids and the spread of these genes among bact...
